International symposium, management forum, and other events held
On November 30, the School of Business Administration held a ceremony and other events to mark the 60th anniversary of the school’s founding, in Academy Hall on the Surugadai Campus. These activities were split into three sections: an international symposium and commemorative lecture, presentations by the school’s students on the results of their studies, and a management forum. Together with reviewing the school’s progress through today, they also celebrated its new beginning as it moves toward an even more active role in the world.
The School of Business Administration of Meiji University began in 1953 as the first school of business administration of any private university in Japan. Amid the postwar boom in study of business administration, it developed an enriched curriculum including liberal arts and English in addition to specialized education. The number of applicants for admission to the school rose from approximately 2,000 in its first year to peak at more than 20,000 in 1990. It trains global professionals with the goal of making Japan a leading international player.
