With the members of the Canberra Accord membership examination team after discussion
The membership examination team for the Canberra Accord, an international agreement among bodies responsible for accrediting architectural education programs, visited Meiji University on October 17. They engaged in informal discussion with a group including Vice President Etsuko Katsu (in charge of international exchange); Dr. Toshiharu Arakawa, Dean of the School of Science and Technology; and Dr. Koji Sakai, Chair of the Department of Architecture.
The purpose of the visit was to witness the accreditation examination by Japan Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE) for the International Program in Architecture and Urban Design (I-AUD) in the Graduate School of Science and Technology, which started on the following day, 18th, as well as the Department of Architecture in the School of Science and Technology.JABEE is currently applying for formal membership in the Canberra Accord, and the team therefore made the visit to witness its accreditation examination at Meiji University.
The I-AUD at the Graduate School of Science and Technology which was one of the subjects of JABEE examination is a master’s course that is conducted in English and was newly instated on the Nakano Campus in 2013. It is characterized by its unique six-year program based on connection with the bachelor’s course in the Department of Architecture, School of Science and Technology.
