Lecture by Professor Horie, former Ambassador to Malaysia

Dec. 04, 2015

The Malaysian Symposium in Japan 2015 was held on November 21 at Global Front on the Surugadai Campus. It was the objective of the Symposium to deepen understanding of the “Look East” policy implemented by the Malaysian government with the aims of economic development and establishing an industrial foundation. Dr. Masahiko Horie (Professor at the Organization for the Strategic Coordination of Research and Intellectual Properties), former Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, took the podium to deliver the keynote speech. He began by introducing the history of nation-building in Japan, which learned much from the Chinese mainland starting in the 8th century and from Western countries following the Meiji Restoration, and flourished as a result. He emphasized that Japan’s experience was also partially applicable to Malaysia, and that the country ought to create new value by learning from it.
