[School of Global Japanese Studies] Holding of an “Advanced Class on Japanese Manga and Anime Culture” at Peking University

On March 20, the School of Global Japanese Studies held an off-campus “Lecture on Advanced Japanese Manga & Anime Culture” at Peking University, which is regarded as the premier institution of higher learning in China. The lecture attracted an audience of more than 300, including students and teachers of Peking University and students of other universities.
This off-campus lecture has been held since the 2010 academic year, and is co-hosted by the School of Global Japanese Studies and the Department of Japanese Language and Culture, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University. For this, the sixth lecture in the series, the lecturer was Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who is active as a manga artist, animator, character designer, anime director, illustrator, and novelist. Mr. Yasuhiko designed the anime character “Mobile Suit Gundam” and drew manga including “Trotsky of Rainbow Colors” and “Mobile Suit Gundam – The Origin.” Among those in attendance from Peking University were Dr. Wu Zhipan, Senior Vice President of the University, and Dr. Ning Qi, President of the School of Foreign Languages.
