ecoming a diplomat has been my dream since my childhood. Moreover, my family lived in Japan for three years when I was a child so I had chances to come into contact with Japanese culture and those experiences made me love Japan very much. After I graduated from high school, I entered the School of Global Japanese Studies, Meiji University to learn about the Japanese culture that I love and gain the knowledge which is necessary for a diplomat. It is now two years since I entered the university. I love Meiji more and more each day because of the study-friendly environment and the warm people here.

Meiji has a splendid environment for students to study and enjoy our campus lives. Meiji has admitted a large number of foreign students and is ranked at number one in the University Applicant Ranking in the Nikkei Shingaku Navi poll of high school students across Japan for several years. This means that studying in Meiji can deepen your cultural understanding of not only different countries in the world but also of different areas across Japan. In addition, Meiji’s facilities are wonderful. Many teachers are famous scholars in their fields and often appear on television. Thanks to their instruction, I am getting closer to my dream.

The thing I like most about Meiji is the warm people here. It is said that people in Tokyo are impersonal and distant but this is not true of people in Meiji. All the Japanese students are friendly and other foreign students advise me a lot about my life in Japan. The teachers are good instructors and helpful advisers; they often give me advice about my academic major and campus life. The most impressive memory in my campus life is the time when I had financial difficulties. I used up all my savings to pay my school fees and I tweeted on Twitter “What should I eat for 20 days until I get the monthly scholarship and salary?” On the next day, one of my friends suddenly gave me a bag of instant food. She said that she had told her parents about my situation and they had given her the food because I had helped her in her campus life. Other schoolmates gave me food that they got at their workplaces. My teacher also sent an email to me, told me about a part time job which pays wages daily, and told me that the university could lend me money. I was moved by their warmth and fell in love with Japan even deeper.

Meiji has given me the opportunity to experience things I would not have been able to experience otherwise, and to meet some wonderful people who will forever be in my heart and mind. Without a doubt, studying abroad is something every student should try at least once during their college days and if you are going to study abroad in Japan, why don’t you choose Meiji?
