Find yourself in Meiji

ince junior high school I have been addicted to everything to do with Japan so I chose Japanese as my major at university. My dream from childhood has been to be able to live, study and experience Japan once in my life time, so when Meiji sent an invitation letter to my university about an international exchange program and my home teacher said I was selected, I was so excited that I was counting down the days until I could be in Japan. After that, however, the earthquake and tsunami came, and my opportunity to be able to study in Japan was on the verge of being canceled. Subsequently, a mail from Meiji arrived, informing me that it was alright for me to come to Japan. I therefore decided to come to Meiji in the face of my relatives' objections, but now, I can say that if I hadn't come to Japan it would be something I would have regretted all my life. Meiji is an ideal place for me to experience Japan, improve my own abilities, and even help me to find out what I really want to do. My seminar is such an awesome place, where I can raise my voice, be heard and get useful directions from my teachers.

My dormitory life at Meiji is also awesome. Since I'm living in Izumi International House, in an "international environment," I have made a lot of friends from all over the world, like the USA, Korea, France, Australia and so on. Not only have I had a chance to taste foreign foods, but I have also got to know about various cultural things too, which never stop amazing me.

Well, since I'm a manga fan and J-drama-holic, Meiji gave me the best chance to learn more about them. There's a tiny but cozy library of manga called Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library of manga and subcultures at the back of Academy Common. I must say it's my favorite place whenever I have a class off. In addition, I think that Mukai Osamu is a fantastic actor. In order to promote his latest movie "Bokutachi wa sekai wo kaeru koto ga dekinai (But we want to build a school in Cambodia)" he came back to Meiji, and I had a chance to meet him in person.
