Information Guide
Introduction
- ・This library is a specialized library for manga and subcultures that are part of Meiji University.
- ・You can also use materials from the Gendai Manga Library in the reading room on the 2nd floor of the Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library.
- ・The materials of the Gendai Manga Library can be ordered. Please come to the library on the day of your visit to apply for checkout or use our advance reservation service.
Facility Usage
- ・The exhibition room on the first floor is open for all visitors free of charge.
- ・The reading room on the second floor is open for students, faculty and staff of Meiji University and all members of the museum.
- ・The stacks rooms, storage rooms, and materials in the Modern Manga Library are available for students, faculty, and staff of Meiji University and members of the museum who are 18 years of age or older.
Membership
- ・There are three types of membership: one-day, one-month and one-year.
- ・Students, faculty, and staff of Meiji University do not need to register.
- ・You can also register as a member if you are not a member of the university (ID verification required).
Membership Types
1-day membership 18 years of age or older 330 yen per day, Under 18 years old 110 yen per day, Preschool children free
1 month membership 2200 yen per month
1 year membership 6600 yen per year
*One-day members younger than 18 years old are not allowed to use the stack rooms, coterie magazines, archives, or materials of the Modern Manga Library.
*One-day members are not allowed to request access to materials published before 1979 as well as Doujinshi.
*To register, please bring an ID card showing your address.
*For information on how to apply for membership using photocopying by mail, please refer to "Photocopying by Mail".
*All prices are including tax.
Hours and Access
Open: Monday and Friday 14:00-20:00
Saturday, Sunday, Holidays 12:00-18:00
Closed: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and special maintenance periods.
*Membership registration and applications for browsing and copying are accepted until 30 minutes before the library closes.

Library Policy
- ・The materials in the reading room on the 2nd floor are available for students, faculty members and all members of the Library.
- ・When using the stacks or the Modern Manga Library, there is a fee of 110 yen per book (not required for Meiji University students, faculty, and staff).
- ・Lended materials may not be brought outside the library.
- ・You may not browse storeroom materials without a reservation. Please use the reservation service.
- ・Please apply at least 30 minutes before closing for materials in the stack rooms and at least one hour before closing for materials in the Modern Manga Library.
Reservations
- ・Please refer to "Advance Reservations and Photocopying by Mail" to make an advance reservation for browsing materials.
Copies
- ・Photocopying is available within the limits of the Copyright Law.
- ・The fee is 55 yen per sheet for black and white and 110 yen per sheet for color. Copying of Doujinshi is not allowed.
- ・Please apply at least 30 minutes before the library closes.
Copying by mail
Note
Please use the coin-operated lockers in the hallway on the 2nd floor to store any baggage before entering the room.
(Please refrain from bringing anything other than pencils, notebooks, and valuables. When all the coin lockers are in use, please leave them at the counter on the 2nd floor.)
