Career-related Information
At Meiji University, the Vocational Guidance Office provides support for students to select career paths and vocations that enable them to utilize their skills.
Specifically, the office provides individual and group employment/career counseling, classes on strategies for written employment examinations and interviews, internship-related services, and various seminars.
The School of Global Japanese Studies aims to provide students with the abilities and skills necessary for employment in the following business fields.
- Mass media-related fields (TV/radio stations; newspapers), publishing-related fields, media industry, Internet-related fields
- With the expansion of internationalization and advancement of the Internet society, the role of the media is more important than ever. The School of Global Japanese Studies aims to produce graduates who have a thorough awareness of Japanese media strategies and the importance of communicating information about Japanese culture in the Internet era.
- Travel/transportation industries (air, rail, shipping), tourism development-related industries, trading company-related fields
- With economic globalization, the number of people and products moving across borders has increased exponentially, and opportunities for intercultural exchange, as well as the scope of international business,are expanding rapidly. The School of Global Japanese Studies aims to produce graduates with excellent language skills and a capacity for understanding their own culture and those of other countries. This will enable them to contribute on a global scale.

- Interest in Japanese culture around the world is extremely high, and the Japanese contents industry that communicates Japanese culture is also highly competitive internationally. In future, there will be a strong demand for people with the skills to create and manage cultural and entertainment content. The School of Global Japanese Studies aims to produce graduates capable of contributing to fields such as the contents industry, culture/intellectual property industries, and advertising/information.
- Foreign-affiliated companies, international governmental organizations,organizations for international cooperation, trade,and tourism.
- In foreign-affiliated companies, adaptation to different cultures and corporate climates is required. In international organizations,self-awareness as a Japanese national and a global perspective are also required. The School of Global Japanese Studies aims to produce graduates capable of contributing to these fields, and has prepared curricula for the study of English, international humanities, and Japanese.
- Professional qualifications
- The School of Global Japanese Studies enables students to acquire five qualifications: teacher, curator, social education director, librarian, and teacher-librarian. In addition to the Junior and High School Teacher’s License Category 1 English, the School of Global Japanese Studies enables students to acquire the Junior High School Teacher’s License Category 1 Social Studies and the High School Teacher’s License Category 1 Geography, History and Citizenship.
