A Global Perspective and Solid Linguistic Ability Cultivated in Japan

Your Future with an International Focus

_Interviewer It seems that you can study many kinds of subjects in the School of Global Japanese Studies. You all seem to be studying very hard—in future, what are you hoping to do?

Kwon Before coming to Japan I was interested in Japanese anime and manga. Now I’m interested in all aspects of Japanese culture, but especially subcultures such as comedy. It’s easy to make puns in Japanese, and there’s a unique comedy culture. I’d like to introduce people to the unique culture of each country through the mass media. There are already various channels for Japan-Korea cultural exchange, and I’d like to broaden these.

Kudo I’m currently taking the teacher-training course, but actually I dream of doing something not on a domestic scale in Japan but on an international scale in Asia. I think the new ideas I’ve learned are the reason for this. Recently, Asian rock bands are becoming more popular, and I’d like to organize a rock festival for Japanese and other Asian bands, with myself also participating as a musician.

Eliza I’m interested in art or fashion related jobs, but I haven’t yet decided where I want to work after graduation. I’d like to go to London, though. Through coming to Japan I’ve really enjoyed learning to live in a different culture, so I’d like to try living in another country.

Liu Using my three languages—Chinese, Japanese, and English—I’d like to work in business. That’s why I want to study more English. At Meiji University, I can take business subjects in other schools as well, so I’m really enjoying my studies as I inch closer towards my goal.
