Urban & Architectural Design Laboratory

This laboratory investigates the theory of sustainable urban & architectural design and the process of citizens’ participation, and develops the communication tools to implement them. Now that we are facing the issues of “Globalization vs Local Identity” and “Creation of low carbon community after the Kyoto protocol”, it is especially important that the architectural designers /engineers, and urban designers contribute to the community building activities with their broad eye sights and coordination skills. This laboratory develops several research themes as follows, and is tackling on the actual and practical projects in local cities such as Himeji in Hyogo, and Takahashi in Okayama.
