Jun. 07, 2011

Mr. Tomohide Yabuki, a first year doctoral student on the Mechanical Engineering Program, Graduate School of Science and Technology (Micro Thermal Engineering Lab; Prof. Osamu Nakabeppu), won the Excellent Presentation Award at the 48th National Heat Transfer Symposium hosted by the Heat Transfer Society of Japan at the Okayama Convention Center from 1 to 3 June.

His presentation was entitled “Study on Heat Transfer Mechanism of Nucleate Boiling with MEMS Sensors: An Attempt to Measure Liquid Phase Heat Transfer Using Interferometry and Micro Thermocouple.” This presentation allowed measurement and visualization of the thermal flow field of liquid when boiling using a fine thermocouple and laser interferometry. Mr. Yabuki’s presentation was chosen for the award from among many presentations by young researchers 28 years of age and under.
