The Ambassador’s Lounge opened on April 16 in the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) satellite office on seventh floor of the Academy Common of the Surugadai Campus with the aim of facilitating interchange between foreign exchange student and Japanese students to promote the development of international sensibilities.
Presiding over the lounge will be Specially Appointed Professor Masahiko Horie, of the Organisation for the Strategic Coordination of Research and Intellectual Property. Specially Appointed Professor Horie has worked for 40 years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan, served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the State of Qatar and to Malaysia, and is currently the MOFA Ambassador for Global Environmental Affairs. Ambassador Horie is eager to use his vast experience and network and host mini lectures and other events at the lounge.
