Katsuhiro Matsumoto (a fourth-year student in the School of Political Science and Economics) won the gold medal in the Men’s 4×200 m freestyle relay event at the 18th Asian Games (2018 Jakarta/Palembang) held on August 20 at the GBK Aquatic Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Matsumoto competed in the event as team anchor along with Naito Ehara, Reo Sakata and Kosuke Hagino. After taking the lead, the team was able to hold on to it until the end, winning the gold medal with an Asian Games record time of 7:05:17.
