Notice of the Entrance Ceremony for the 2021 Academic Year (Joint event for students entering in the 2020 academic year and the 2021 academic year)

The Meiji University Entrance Ceremony for the 2021 academic year will be held as follows, after taking measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

Date and time: April 7, 2021 (Wednesday)

[First part]
Start: 9:30 am (doors open one hour prior); Finish: 10:00 am
Schools of Commerce, Political Science and Economics, and Information and Communication

[Second part]
Start: 12:20 pm (doors open one hour prior); Finish: 12:50 pm
Schools of Science and Technology, Agriculture, Global Japanese Studies, Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences and the Graduate School

[Third part]
Start: 3:00 pm (doors open one hour prior); Finish: 3:30 pm
Schools of Law, Arts and Letters, Business Administration, and the Professional Graduate School

※Attendance at ceremonies outside of students’ enrolled Schools, including the Graduate Schools is not permitted.

Venue: Nippon Budokan (2-3 Kitanomaru-Koen, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

Access: Take the exit from Kudanshita Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai and Hanzomon Lines or the Toei Subway Shinjuku Line.
*Please do not arrive by car.

Outline of the ceremony
The ceremony will be divided into three parts and the number of people in the venue is limited to 5,000.
The 2021 entrance ceremony will include the 2020 entrance ceremony as it could not be held at the time due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Because of the need to limit the number of people at the venue, only students entering in the 2021 academic year and those students who entered in the 2020 academic year will be able to attend in person.
Please note that to ensure safety family members will not be allowed to attend the ceremony. However, the ceremony will be available to view on the Internet.
The URL for the site will be announced separately on the university website.

Notes to participants at the ceremony
(1) Please wear a mask at all times, refrain from talking, and keep a safe distance from others in the building to avoid crowding.
(2) On the day of the entrance ceremony, please take your temperature at home. It must be normal for attendees.
(3) Please install the Coronavirus Contact Confirmation App (COCOA) on your smartphone and make sure you have it available before coming to the venue.
(4) Temperature checks will be conducted near the entrance to the venue. If you have a fever, you will not be allowed to enter the Nippon Budokan.
(5) If you are not able to attend the ceremony due to ill health or other reasons, the ceremony will be streamed on the Internet, so you can watch the ceremony remotely.
(6) We request that you do not come to the event if you fall into any of the following categories:
If you have any of the symptoms of a cold (fever, cough, etc.), fatigue, or abnormal sense of smell or taste, or if you are otherwise feeling unwell.
If you have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for the new coronavirus infection.
In order to prevent infection and spread of the new coronavirus infection, we ask that you take due care in coming to a decision on whether or not to attend.
 

Please note the following
(1) The area around the venue will be very crowded, so please arrive as early as possible.
(2) Please use public transportation when coming to the venue. It is recommended that you purchase your train tickets in advance for your return trip.
(3) Please refrain from meeting people in or near the station, as it may interfere with the flow of traffic.
(4) After the ceremony, please follow the instructions of the staff when leaving the venue.
(5) Smoking is prohibited in and around the Nippon Budokan.

Other Information
(1) Information on how to participate in the ceremony for students enrolled in the 2020 academic year will be announced separately on the Oh-o! Meiji System
(2) Depending on the status of the new coronavirus infection, the ceremony may be cancelled. In this case, we will post an announcement on our website as soon as possible.
