Expected Schedule for the Exchange Student Program of the School of Political Science and Economics, Meiji University

Application Period
 
Exchange program starting from April (Spring Semester) From August 15th to October 1st in the year before of the desired exchange program
Exchange program starting from September (Fall Semester) From January 15th to March 1st in the same year of the desired exchange program
Acceptance decision is made in Exchange program starting from April (Spring Semester) November to December in the year before of exchange (tentative)
Exchange program starting from September (Fall Semester) April to June in the same year of exchange (tentative)

Exchange program will end and an academic transcript will be issued by Meiji University*
 
Exchange program ending in July (Spring Semester) At the end of September or later (tentative)
Exchange program ending in February (Fall Semester) At the beginning of April or later(tentative)
*If you expect to graduate from your home institution as soon as you go back to your home institution, please confirm the last column ”Expected Schedule for the Exchange Student Program", before the application.

【Application Requirements】

1. Be a student at one of the partner universities of the School of Political Science and Economics (SPSE) of Meiji University.
   (Participants of the Exchange Student Program of the SPSE must be enrolled to their home institution until they finish the Program. Those who will graduate from their home institution before the Program starts or during the Program are not allowed to apply.)
2. You must have finished studying at your home university at least for one year before starting the exchange program. 
3. Language Requirements (Japanese or English)
 ・If you take courses in English;
      TOEFL iBT 61 or above, TOEIC 600 or above, IELTS 5.0 or above, or its equivalent level
 ・If you take courses in Japanese;
     Japanese Language Proficiency Test N3 or above, or its equivalent level
    * If there are requirements about language proficiency on the MOU between your home institution and the SPSE, priority is given to that of the MOU.
    * The language proficiency test must be taken within 2 years before the day when you submit your application materials (except for Japanese Proficiency Level Test certificate of N1).
4. GPA: no requirement.
5. Nationality: no restriction.

*When the starting date of application is approaching, the SPSE Office, Meiji University will send the information on the exchange program application procedures to the partner universities by e-mail.

【Nomination and Application Procedures】

(1)Nomination by home institution
Coordinators at our partner universities need to nominate students to the SPSE Office, Meiji University first.
・ Please use a designated “Students List” when you nominate students. “Student List” will be e-mailed to the partner universities before the starting date of application period.
・ Please wait for a confirmation e-mail form the SPSE Office, Meiji University. After receiving the confirmation e-mail from the SPSE Office, please inform the nominated students of this application procedures.

Students at the partner universities of the SPSE:
Before proceeding with the application procedures, please make sure that the coordinators at your home institution have submitted a "Student List" to the SPSE Office of Meiji University.

(2)Submission of the online application form

Each applicant needs to submit the online application form themselves by the deadline from the following link.

Japanese Language Education For Exchange Students

Exchange students can take Japanese Language Courses (Japanese Language Program for International Students) at Meiji University.
To participate in Japanese Language Program for International Students, exchange students must take an online Japanese placement test before arriving in Japan.

Japanese placement test
Staff at the Japanese Language Education Center will inform the international students of the details of the test around 2-3 months before their arrival.
