【重要・2021年4月1日更新】新型コロナウイルス感染症防止対策に伴う図書館利用について（図書館入館利用：学内者限定，各利用サービス等）／Library Response to COVID-19(About the services to be used)
Due to the status of the University's activities related to the new coronavirus infection, infection prevention measures, and measures to restrict access to the University，the following changes have been made to the opening hours and services of Meiji University Library.
We give top priority to education and research in our University, and to avoid crowding in the library as a measure to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection, only faculty members can use our library now. Visitors (Affiliated Junior High and High Schools students，Alumni, Liberty Academy members, Community Citizens, etc.) will not be able to use the library for the time being. We would appreciate your understanding.
If there is any change for library service, we will announce on our website.
■ Library admission (Eligibility for admission)
・Faculty Members (Professor (tenure and non-tenure), Visiting Professor, Guest Professor, Lecturer, Administrative Staff, Contract Staff), Emeritus Professor, Guest Researcher, Visiting Researcher, Researcher(non-tenured), RA(Research Assistant), TA(Teaching Assistant), Retired faculty and staff
・Graduate students (including professional Graduate students and Graduate school non-regular students)
・Undergraduate students(including Undergraduate non-regular students)
■ Conditions for admission to Library
To enter the library, you're required to meet and agree the following conditions.
・Wearing a mask (Required)
・Please take your temperature at home and check that you are in good physical condition before entering Library.
※Non-contact thermometers are installed at each campus. If you forgot to take your temperature at home, please check your temperature with these thermometers.
・Please wash your hands frequently and disinfect your fingers, And Please disinfect the reading seats and PCs by yourself.
・Please do not make a loud voice or sound.
・Please make your stay in the library as short as possible.
・In the library, you should care the physical distance (securing physical distance from others.)
・In case of a suspicion of the outbreak of the new coronavirus infection, Library may contact you based on the admission records or provide the information to public institutions such as public health centers.
*If the library becomes crowded, admission may be restricted.
■ Library opening hours after April 1, 2021 (added on April 1, 2021)
Due to the lowering of the Meiji University activity restriction guidelines to "Level 1", the library opens during normal hours.
Please check the opening hours of each library on the library calendar on our website.
■ Available Services (updated on April 1, 2021)
・Lending books and journals ※processed by self-checkout machines is recommended
・Photocopying books and journals
・Reading seats (with some restrictions) ※Number of available seats increased from April 1.
・Using of micro materials or valuable books (Advance reservations are required. Please check here (Japanese only) for detailed information.)
・PC lending services
・Group reading rooms and a group study room are available with restrictions (central library only; available from april 1, 2021) *Rooms for group use in Izumi Library and Ikuta Library are not available.
・Refreshment rooms can be used with some restrictions. (available from April, 1)

(1)Email Reference Service<For users eligible to enter the library>
We accept mails to provide advice on how to search documents and search for information. For details on how to make a request, refer to "Consultation on documents, investigation of documents and information, etc." on the Reference Service page.
(2)Application for ILL copy service (including DDS) <For users eligible to enter the library>
You can request ILL copy service online via Library Portal Service. Due to the change of the guideline level to 2 on March 22, ILL photocopies requested after March 22 are no longer be mailed. Please pick them up at the reference counter.
(3)Application for ILL loan service <For users eligible to enter the library>
You can request ILL loan service online via Library Portal Service.
(4)Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries <For users eligible to enter the library>
Please apply at the reference counter.
(5)Reference Counter opening hours
■ Returning books
Books can be returned not only to the library where you borrowed them but also to other campus libraries. Please return books to the book drop at the entrance of the library. If you have any books that have not been returned, we would appreciate it if you could return them.

2. When the library is closed, please return books to the following locations.
・Central Library: Please contact Disaster Prevention Center on the south side of Liberty Tower
・Izumi Library: Book drop in front of the University main gate
・Ikuta Library: Book drop in front of the entrance of the library (during campus hours only)
・Nakano Library: Book drop in the hallway beside the library entrance (during campus hours only)
【Users not eligible to enter the library】
If you have any books that have not been returned, we would appreciate it if you could return them.

2. Books can be returned to the following locations (Central Library and Izumi Library only).

【The penalty for overdue materials】
If the library materials are not returned by the due date, their status will be overdue.
Borrowing will be prohibited as a penalty for overdue materials according to the period of overdue (Article 21, Section 2 of the "Library regulations"), but for the time being, the penalty will be lifted when overdue books are returned.
However, penalties will not be lifted if the long overdue started before March 2020.
【Return Reminder Notices】
The following return reminder notices are sent to users who are eligible to enter the library. Please return materials before the due date.
(1) "Request for return of materials from Meiji University Library" ("Oh-o! Meiji", automatic delivery)
(2) "Request for return of materials" (for users who have registered their e-mail address in the Portal Service, automatic delivery)
(3) Postcard, letter (mailed to home)
If it is difficult to return the materials immediately due to staying overseas or in far distance, please return them after you can do so. Please note that reminder notices will be automatically sent and mailed until the return process is complete.
【Lost or damaged books】
If you have lost, damaged materials, please contact the following address.
■ Extension of loan period
Due date can be renewed only once during the loan period. However, it cannot be renewed if the book has another reservation or if you have overdue materials. Journals cannot be extended. Renewal can be done online through the Portal Service.
※New loan period starts from the renewal day (not from the last day of original loan period).
■ Suspension of Library services for users not eligible to enter the library
Since April 8 2020, use of the library by users not eligible to enter the library has been suspended. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
・Affiliated Junior High and High Schools members (excluding Meiji High and Junior High School faculty members)
・Affiliated University and institution members
・Liberty Academy members
・Meiji University credit card holders
・Friends of Meiji University Museum
・Those who bring a letter of introduction issued by their institution
If you wish to return books that are currently checked out, please refer to the above "■Returning books" and 【Users not eligible to enter the library】and return them to the library. We will take care not to put users at a disadvantage.
■ Stopping New issue and update of library cards for non-affiliated users
Since April 3 2020, the library has suspended accept new registrations or renewals for users not eligible to enter the library. They will be applicable after resuming the non-affiliated user service. Please keep your library card until the service resume.
■ Using the library with letter of introduction from other institutions
We are suspending to accept new applications for a while.
