Examples of offenses, and penalties

Examples

Borrowing of user IDs

The borrowing and lending of student ID cards or user accounts (IDs and passwords) is strictly prohibited. Borrowing and lending of user accounts infringes on the Unauthorized Computer Access Law.

Lax management of websites

If you apply for an account for receiving kiban services, you will be provided with an e-mail account (e-mail address) and webspace. You can upload your own HTML document files on your webspace, which can be freely accessed from inside and outside the university. The account owners of those websites are responsible for managing and operating them appropriately. If you neglect your responsibility, you will be considered to be breaking the rules and subjected to a penalty.

Inappropriate messages on websites outside the university

Whether on-campus or off-campus, you must not post inappropriate messages (slander, words of harassment, or obscene remarks, etc.) on bulletin boards. If you use the on-campus network to do any of these, you will be punished according to the school regulations.

Measures against offenses

Penalties will be imposed on offenders in accordance with the Meiji University MIND Usage Standards.

In the case of borrowing and lending student ID cards, for example, a six-month suspension from using the MIND system will be imposed. It will be applied to the Kiban Service Account, the Common Certification Account, the Information Research Terminal (IFT1), the Automatic Certificate Machine (IFT2), and all the computers in Izumi Media Tower and the Multi Media Area in Central Library. Even if you lend your student ID card out of kindness or casually borrow your friend's card, you will be strictly punished in both cases. So please make sure that you abide by the regulations.

Also, the offender's name should be reported to the dean of the faculty. The resulting punishment may be be an admonition or even suspension from school.

How to decide measures against offenders

Once an offense is found to have been committed, it will come under the jurisdiction of the MIND Judgment Committee.
