Let's think of Peace with a message from "NAGASAKI Angelus Bell 1945". It would be a rare opportunity for you to learn the historical incident, since Nagasaki Angelus Bell 1945 is one of few Japanese films on the subject with English subtitles.

“NAGASAKI ANGELUS BELL 1945”
STORY: This animation film tells the story of a young doctor who faced numerous tragedies brought by an atomic-bomb which was dropped by the United States on Nagasaki City, Japan in 1945. August 9, 11:02 a.m. a new-type bomb exploded in the sky over Nagasaki, instantly reducing the city to ruins and killing and injuring its residents. Urakami Cathedral, where Dr. Tatsuichiro Akizuki worked, was also ravaged, and the Angelus Bells were torn from their steeples and buried under the rubble. Dr. Akizuki and other survivors strived to rescue each other and continue their medical activities, despite unspeakable hardships and an ensuing sense of despair. Their motivation was an unmoving conviction that the Angelus Bells would once again ring out over Nagasaki, announcing the “resurrection” of the city…

TOWARDS PEACE:This film received high acclamation in a German cinema festival Stuttgart as well as a French movie festival Annecy. This film, which appeals to global citizens-it is impossible for humans to coexist with nuclear weapons-was also screened at the main bureau of the United Nations in New York during Arms Control Week in 2007. Not limited to such official activities, it has been used for grassroots peace education both domestically and overseas. One of the activities is the screening events organized by university students from Nagasaki in the United States, Syria and Brazil. The students report that many views said the movie exposed previously unknown truths about the atomic-bombing.
