A video entered by students from the School of Information and Communication triumphantly took the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award, the highest prize, in a competition organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs titled “Competition of Presentation on the future of Japan and the United Nations.” The students had gone to Vietnam for short-term study-abroad under the School’s International Exchange (Vietnam) Program (instructor in charge: Associate Professor Takane Kawashima). The award ceremony was part of the program to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Japan’s accession to the United Nations and was held at United Nations University (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) on December 19, the day on which Japan joined the United Nations. The video produced by the students was titled “Water and Hygiene ~ Our Proposal Based on the Current Situation in Vietnam ~” It portrays the water and sanitation environment in Vietnam interspersed with on-site interviews, and underscores the applicability of Japanese water recycling technology.
