Graduate School of Humanities

The Graduate School of Humanities seeks to develop professionals who can take a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to examining the problems facing humankind in the twenty-first century, and then take proactive steps to resolve them with an eye towards the public good. The theme of education and research activities at the school is “the quest for harmonization of humanity and the environment”. Today, we are forced to grapple with ethical judgments spurred by dramatic advances in science and technology, the need for multicultural understanding in a world overrun with globalization, the need to create peace in the face of structural violence, and the demand for harmonious coexistence with the natural world. The Graduate School of Humanities cultivates sophisticated global citizens and researchers able to hammer out solutions to these and other modern problems using a far-reaching and inclusive approach.
