Hosei University, Meiji University, and Kansai University were founded in the 1880s by former students of Gustave Émile Boissonade de Fontarabie (1825-1910), who is extolled as the father of modern Japanese law. Carrying on the will of Boissonade, who poured his heart and soul into training the next generation, these former students operated the schools and provided education while undertaking various work as jurists.

The exhibition looks back at Boissonade’s achievements, his former students who carried on his work and spread the study of law, and the activities of the three universities and once again looks at their significance from a world history perspective.
