SATO Taichi (first-year master student, Iwase Laboratory) received the Director's Award at the 23rd Research Conference of the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University.

Presentation title: Synthesis of an Ir and La-codoped BaTa2O6 photocatalyst using an amorphous metal complex method and its visible-light water splitting activity
Winner: SATO Taichi
Academic supervisor: IWASE Akihide
This research succeeded in developing an Ir and La-codoped BaTa2O6 photocatalyst that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen using visible light. This is the first method in the world to achieve visible light water splitting using this photocatalyst.
