日本の漫画文化を海外に広めるため、そして漫画を通じた国際文化交流を促進するため、外務省は2007年に海外の漫画作家を顕彰する日本国際漫画賞を創設しました。同賞は今年度第15回の節目を迎え、これまで実に世界の120以上の国・地域から累計4,000以上の作品が応募されています。
　応募作品は、その絵柄も言語も、ストーリーも様々です。それでも共通して感じるのは、漫画を好きだということ。漫画という創作を楽しんでいるということ。あらゆる地域の年齢も立場も異なる人々と、作品を介して交流することができるのです。
　「マンガは愛。マンガは友情。マンガは人の成長。マンガはすべてを表します。そこにはどんな垣根もありません。だからマンガとは、最も普遍的な結合の力です。」
麻生太郎外務大臣（当時）は、漫画賞の創設時にそうメッセージを寄せました。この度、そんな漫画の力を実感させてくれる歴代の最優秀賞を受賞した作品の展示が実現しました。どうぞ手にとってお楽しみください。

Special Exhibition on the occasion of the 15th Japan International MANGA Award
For the purpose of expanding Japanese manga culture abroad and promoting international exchange through manga, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan established the Japan International MANGA award in 2007 to honor foreign manga artists. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the award, which has received a total of more than 4,000 entries from more than 120 countries and regions around the world since its establishment.

The submitted works vary in drawing style, design, language, and story. But what these works all have in common is the artists’ love for manga. They truly enjoy the creation of manga, and people of different ages and positions from all over the world can interact with each other through their works.

“Manga is about love. Manga is about friendship. Manga is about growing-up. Manga is about everything. It knows absolutely no boundaries. Manga, in a word, is the most universal unifier of the hearts and minds.”
