Panel discussion with three dispatched students

On March 5th, YAGI Hayato (4th year, School of Global Japanese Studies), who was dispatched to the UNCDF Nepal Office as a UN Youth Volunteer (UNV), gave a presentation about his activities.

Generally, in the least developed countries, budget allocation for climate change countermeasures is difficult owing to financial difficulties, leading to slow progress in addressing the issue. To improve this situation, the UNCDF Nepal Office, in collaboration with the central government, has implemented a project to promote the allocation of climate change funds to local governments. Yagi played an active role as a member of the project's launch team.
To understand the background of the project when he first arrived, he read 150 pages of relevant documents, conducted interviews with government agencies, conducted surveys with other international organizations, approaching the task from various angles.

YAGI also says that during the course of his activities, he expanded his personal network with aid agencies such as the UN and the World Bank, effectively bridging connections between individuals. Toward the end of his activities, he visited the JICA Nepal Office with his UNCDF supervisor. He also contributed to establishing a network between the two organizations by presenting UNCDF projects to JICA.
YAGI's report showed that he not only learned about the UN but also gained various insights as a member of society through his activities as a whole.

Following YAGI's activity report, a panel discussion was held with two other dispatched students from the previous year: KONDO Ai (4th year, School of Business Administration, dispatched to the UNDP Egypt Office) and ABE Yayoi (4th year, School of Global Japanese Studies, dispatched to the WFP Nepal Office).

Details of the panel discussion was posted on Meiji Now.
