- "Japanese Expression (Writing and Speaking)" Professor WATARI Koichi
- This is a required class in the first and second year. It is designed to help students acquire a basic knowledge of and practical ability in Japanese expression. In the writing practice, lectures include the characteristics of writing such as reports, theses, and letters. In the speaking practice, lectures focus on the features of various forms of public speaking such as speeches, oral presentations, and debates. Opportunities for practice are provided.
- "JapaneseⅠa (Reading)" Special Appointment Lecturer SATO Yuki
- This class is designed to enhance the ability to read Japanese in a variety of areas, including newspapers, essays, and novels. For this purpose, we will pay special attention to the vocabulary and grammar characteristics of written language, as well as the structure of written texts.
- "Japanese 2b (Listening and Speaking)" Professor HIMENO Tomoko
- The purpose of this class is to develop the ability to correctly comprehend the language spoken by ordinary native speakers of Japanese. In addition, the aim is improve oral expression so as to speak clearly and persuasively. In the class, we will select recordings in Japanese from a wide variety of fields, including news, documentaries, and lectures. Listening assignments are given regularly. There will also be discussions of themes of selected listening material, interviews with Japanese students, and presentations, all of which are intended to improve oral skills.
