Energy and Society: Increasing Efficiency and Improving Our Quality of Life
(1) Should the development of alternative energy sources be encouraged to help reduce dependence on fossil fuels? What are the problems associated with a government-led approach to developing alternative energy sources? What are the problems associated with a market-driven approach?
(2) What technologies are the most promising and which are likely to have the greatest impact on energy-related issues in society?
(3) On a society-level scale, how realistic, effective and cost-efficient are renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, as substitutes for fossil fuels in addresssing future energy needs?
