地球科学の数理入門（Introduction to Mathematics in Earth Sciences）
授業内容
地球，それを取り巻く環境を理解し，それを取組むには数理科学的な考え方が欠かせません。そこに現れる複雑現象について定量的に扱うモデルの作り方そして解き方を学びます。
Knowledge of Earth calls for a multi-disciplinary study which necessarily makes use of the most advanced methods of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Ecology, Mathematics and Information Technology. Also. the research to be developed includes subjects ranging from data acquisition, with not only traditional techniques but also the most advanced resources of our time to the development of new modeling methodologies for the simulation and reproduction and prediction.

授業計画
地球科学に関する最先端のトピックを取り上げ，国際的に活躍している研究者を講師陣として迎え，オムニバス方式で行ないます。授業は既存の研究科科目を超えて，学際的な視点から行いますが，授業で使用する言語は英語とし，判定に用いるレポートも英語で書くことを原則とします。
