(4) Symposium on Peace and Environment Zone in East Asia

The Graduate School of Humanities addresses research and education on global issues in its Peace and the Environment Course, one of the three courses majors offered in the Graduate School of Humanities.

The theme of this symposium is “Peace and Environment Zone in East Asia,” which means to “develop a common awareness of peace and environment issues among governments and people in East Asia and propose a construction of a space (zone), where ‘peace and environment’ is maintained and developed, based on the common awareness.” At the symposium, discussions were conducted on environment policies in the East Asian region, such as Mongolia, China, South Korea, and the watershed of the River Amur, with researchers from these countries participating. In the future, the Graduate School of Humanities will continue its ongoing education and research efforts in this area mainly via the Peace and the Environment Course.
