Jun. 25, 2010

H.E.Dr.Nouredine Hached, Tunisian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan, paid a courtesy visit to Meiji University on June 25 and conferred with Keiichiro Tsuchiya, trustee of educational affairs, and Yoshiharu Oshikiri, trustee of the Association Japon-Tunisie and ex-member of the judo club of Meiji University, at the Ito Shiko Hall, Liberty Tower, Surugadai Campus.

This visit was realized by the long association between Ambassador Hached and Yoshiharu Oshikiri, trustee of the Association Japon-Tunisie and ex-member of the judo club of Meiji University, through judo.

On the day, opinions were exchanged on a broad range of topics, including the promotion of exchange programs with Tunisian universities and academic and cultural exchanges between the two nations, in a relaxed atmosphere prompted by the advance of Japan to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup and the great contribution of Yuto Nagatomo, an alumnus of Meiji University, to the games.

Moreover, Vice President Etsuko Katsu participated in the Japan-North Africa University Summit held in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia, on May 14, together with presidents and vice presidents of 16 Japanese universities. They had active discussions on how to deepen interactions and promote academic exchanges with nations in North Africa.
