1. Collection of donations of relief money

Meiji University is raising donations as relief money to assist the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Meiji University Relief Fund to Aid the Victims of the Great Tohoku-Kanto Earthquake will be sent to the Japanese Red Cross Society’s Great East Japan Earthquake Donation Bank Account, through the Meiji University Fundraising Office.

The Relief Fund to Aid Meiji University Students Affected by the Earthquake, meanwhile, will be incorporated into scholarships and other programs of Meiji University students (including new students) who have been affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. 2. Activities carried out by the Meiji University Volunteer Center

Fundraising
From April 4 (Monday) to April 22 (Friday), the Meiji University Volunteer Center installed donation boxes on each of the Surugadai, Izumi and Ikuta campuses, and students carried out fundraising activities to collect relief money to aid the victims. A summary of the fundraising activities during this period is as follows:

   Period: From Monday, April 4 to Friday, April 22
   Total money raised by the three campuses: 559,626 yen

The relief money will be sent to the Japanese Red Cross Society’s Great East Japan Earthquake Donation Bank Account, through the Meiji University Fundraising Office.

Holding of a volunteer training program
To assist the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, we will hold a preliminary training session on May 14 at the Surugadai Campus for students wishing to take part in disaster volunteer activities. The program will include orientation lectures targeting students who are taking part in volunteer activities for the first time in disaster-stricken areas, as well as Q&A sessions.
