On the Occasion of the Fourth Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake

Mar. 11, 2015

Four years have already passed since the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake and
the ensuing nuclear catastrophe at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station owned by Tokyo
Electric Power Company.
On this occasion, we would like to once more express our profound grief over the immense
loss of life in this disaster and our heartfelt condolences to all of those who were bereaved or
otherwise victimized by it and still have not been able to return to their home communities.
Meiji University is committed to continued provision of support to the people and areas affected
by the disaster. As a university that is open to the community, Meiji University has pledged to
squarely confront realities, and especially the task of preventing disasters from fading from
memory. Through our programs of education and research, we are making an all-university
effort to assist full-fledged recovery from the disaster and, indeed, make a positive contribution
to society as a whole.
On the fourth anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, Meiji University will fly the
university flag at half-mast on all of its campuses as a token of its condolences.
