President Fukumiya bids the graduates a hearty “congratulations!”
On September 19, Meiji University held the Autumn Graduation Ceremony for the 2015 academic year at Liberty Hall on the Surugadai Campus. The ceremony celebrated the fresh departure by a total of 241 graduates (172 from the undergraduate, and 69 from the graduate school).
Dr. Masao Mukaidono, Chairman of the Meiji University Alumni Association, told the graduates that approximately 530,000 alumni active in Japan and around the world had high expectations of their future achievements, and urged them to take a hand in the Association for the purpose of assisting the advancement of their alma mater and contributing to society as a whole.
In his valedictory as representative of the graduates, Ichimura referred to the experience of studying in Thailand for one year. “What I needed in order to find my own role and make my own presence felt among the postive-minded students in the region was my own Iindividuality'. While I was on the verge of losing heart at times, I managed to buckle down and vie with the other students precisely because I had studied at Meiji University, which posts empowerment of 'the Individual' as a pillar of its educational philosophy,” he said emphatically.
