Open Campus 2017 Held

Sep. 06, 2017

The Open Campus was held on each of the three Meiji University campuses (Surugadai, Ikuta, and Nakano) in August. In this annual mid-summer program, the campuses are thrown open to students who will be taking college entrance exams later in the year, to give them a glimpse of university life.

This year’s program was held for three days from August 2 – 4 on the Surugadai Campus centered around schools in the humanities, for the two days August 8 – 9 on the Ikuta Campus centered around schools in the sciences, and for the two days August 22 – 23 on the Nakano Campus centered around the School of Global Japanese Studies and School of Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences.
During the seven days, a record-high total of more than 60,000 high school students and their guardians attended.

On each campus, there were events including presentations of Meiji University, guidance about undergraduate schools, model classes, meetings for explanation of entrance exams, and space for individual consultation allowing visitors to directly ask questions to students and teachers. All of these events were well attended. Tours also proved to be popular with many of the participants. There were campus tours led by students who showed the participants around the campus, and tours of research rooms and laboratories affording views of the actual sites of research and firsthand looks at the latest research results.
