The Yoshihiro Yonezawa Memorial Library of Manga and Subcultures and Contemporary Manga Library of Meiji University, the National Museum of Taiwan History, and the Taiwan Cultural Center, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan will hold a special exhibition, “Mysterious Journey through Taiwanese Manga History - 100 years of book rental shops and manga” from October 6 (Fri). Focusing on the historical transition of book rental shops in Taiwan, the exhibition overviews the kinds of manga that have been read, distributed and produced. Manga distributed in Taiwan clearly reflect the social and political changes in Taiwan, such as influence from Japanese rule. This exhibition aims to provide an opportunity for visitors to discover similarities and differences between Taiwan and Japan, as well as the unique development of manga culture in contemporary Taiwan.
