Nov. 18, 2024

The Program for Mathematics, Data science and AI Smart Higher Education of Meiji University School of Science and Technology (SST-MDASH) (Advanced Literacy) was approved for the Approved Program for Mathematics, Data science and AI Smart Higher Education (Advanced Literacy) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology on August 27, 2024.

SST-MDASH, the approved program, was launched in fiscal 2023 with the aim of fostering engineers and researchers who will contribute to solving increasingly complex issues in modern society through the analysis of big data and the application of artificial intelligence, while leveraging the expertise of diverse academic departments at the School of Science and Technology.*
We aim to produce human resources with a wide range of perspectives and practical abilities by integrating science and technology education and data science education in SST-MDASH.

About the Program for Mathematics, Data science and AI Smart Higher Education of Meiji University School of Science and Technology (SST-MDASH)

The program consists of three subject groups: the basic subjects, the practical subjects, and the applied and advanced subjects, and is designed to help students acquire knowledge and skills in mathematics, data science, and AI in a step-by-step manner. This will help students in departments outside of mathematics, data science, and AI to better interpret the output of data scientists and machine learning engineers and use it to solve problems in their areas of expertise.

*About the School of Science and Technology at Meiji University
The School of Science and Technology consists of science departments, where students explore natural science and mathematics, and technological departments, where students apply natural science to create technologies that are useful to people. The goal of the School of Science and Technology is to develop human resources in science who can flexibly confront unknown problems through logical thinking, which is common to all scientific fields. The School of Science and Technology is comprised of eight departments in different specialized fields: the Department of Electronics and Bioinformatics, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering Informatics, the Department of Architecture, the Department of Applied Chemistry, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Physics. The School of Science and Technology offers a wide range of options to meet students’ diverse needs, including what they want to study at university and how they want to contribute to society in the future.
