AZUMA Miyuki, a postdoctoral researcher at the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory (led by Professor SHIMADA Sotaro) in the Department of Electronics and Bioinformatics, School of Science and Technology, won the Incentive Paper Award of the Japanese Cognitive Science Society (JCSS).
This award is evaluated and determined based on three criteria: novelty and innovation, completeness and interdisciplinary dialogue. This paper develops a scale to measure underexplored individual tendencies related to our daily “cheering behavior,” and categorizes patterns of cheering tendencies using cluster analysis. It also discusses the relationship between cheering and recent concepts like “oshi (favorites)” and “oshi-katsu (activities related to cheering for favorites),” and is expected to promote future research on cheering.
Awarded paper title
“Individual Differences in Cheering: Development of the Cheering Tendency Scale and Comparison by Cluster Analysis”
