The School of Information and Communication held a ceremony and symposium to celebrate its 20th anniversary at Surugadai Campus Liberty Hall on October 13.

The School of Information and Communication was established in 2004 with the aim of promoting information and communication studies as a new discipline based on social science. Since then, researchers from various fields have gathered to study social phenomena in an interdisciplinary manner, and the school has produced outstanding graduates across a wide range of sectors.

In his opening address, ABE Rikiya, Dean of School of Information and Communication, stated, "We will aim to develop further as a bridge connecting academic fields, along with the yet unseen future evolution of the information society." Then, YANAGIYA, Chairman, Board of Trustees, remarked, "The School of Information and Communication embodies interdisciplinarity and diversity. I hope it will continue to thrive and make a significant impact in the future." Finally, President UENO congratulated them, "From the foundation’s very beginning, we have anticipated the full-scale arrival of an advanced information society, and we have pursued a deeper understanding of humanity and society from an interdisciplinary perspective. I am confident that we will continue to create and present new value, guided by this forward-thinking philosophy."

After the speeches, Professor ISHIKAWA Masato, Chair of the Executive Committee for 20th Commemorative Project, reported on the past activities and future plans of the commemorative projects. At the symposium, research findings were presented, along with opportunities for general discussions.
