[Shooting Club] Wins the overall championships in the Intercollegiate Championship for both men and women; 3 consecutive men’s championships and 7 consecutive women’s championships, braking Japanese record!

Dec. 05, 2024

Both the men’s and women’s shooting teams won the 2024 All Japan University Sports Shooting Championship (the 71st men’s and the 37th women’s overall championships) held at Nose Rifle Shooting Range (Nose-cho, Osaka) from October 17 to 20. These were remarkable achievements, with the men’s team winning the overall title for the third consecutive year and the women’s team for the seventh consecutive year.

NOBATA Misaki (3rd in the School of Commerce) broke her own national record of 633.7 points in the women’s 60-shot 10-m standing air rifle event. In the same event for teams, MIURA Rio (4th in the School of Commerce), NOBATA Misaki (3rd in the School of Commerce) and TAICHI Hinata (1st in the School of Commerce) also broke the Japanese record with their total points of 1,887.0. Meiji University students achieved the great feat of breaking two national records in this championship.

They also won the overall championships in the 2024 Kanto Student Rifle Shooting Championship Fall Meeting for both men and women, which was held at Tochigi Rifle Shooting Range (Utsunomiya City, Tochigi) from September 19 to 22.

Comment from Head Coach TSUBA Kyohei
I am very happy that we won the men’s and women’s overall championships again this year. I think the club members were under a lot of pressure while other schools were catching up. However, by fulfilling their responsibilities, the members who participated in the team events as well as those in the individual events were also able to achieve good results. Our motto is “to win as a team,” and I am grateful to the members who have made that a reality.

We will continue to work hard to win back-to-back championships next year, so we ask for your continued guidance and encouragement.

Comment from Captain UCHIDA Hidetoshi (4th in the School of Commerce)
I am very happy that we were able to win the men’s and women’s overall championship again this year.
As well as groups, there were also many individual winners. I feel that this is the result of each member steadily improving their skills.

The 4th-year students will retire after this championship, and a new team will start from the next time. We look forward to your continued support.
