On October 20, 2024, three teams from the Laboratory of Electrical Machines and Systems, the Department of Electronics and Bioinformatics, the School of Science and Technology (Professor KUBOTA Hisao) participated in the CQ EV Mini Kart Race sponsored by JEVRA (Japan Electric Vehicle Race Association) at the Tsukuba Circuit. They won first place (Leader: NAKA Toshitomo, Driver: SHIBANO Naoto), second place (Leader: YANAGISAWA Takuma, Driver: OIKAWA Koki), and third place (Leader and driver: KYONO Kotaro ).
In this race, participants compete for motor control technology and vehicle maintenance technology by using motors with the same specifications (however the way the motor coil is wound and the number of windings are freely determined by each team), the same vehicles, and the same batteries.
