An exchange event was held on April 2 for foreign students of JT (Japanese Track) and ET (English Track) who newly entered the School of Global Japanese Studies in 2024. This exchange event was planned and conducted by senior foreign students in the second to fourth year with the intention of creating a space for new foreign students to talk with each other and with senior ones so that the new and junior students can start their university life in peace.
A total of 56 people, including 39 new students, 12 senior students, and faculty members (Professor KOMORI Kazuko, Associate Professor YANAGISAWA Emi, Assistant Professor Huang Congcong and others), participated in the event. Also, as a secret guest, the official character of Meiji University, Mejiro appeared, with whom a commemorative photo session was held.
This event included a program consisting of a self-introduction game, a campus adventure, and a question time to ask seniors questions. In the self-introduction game “real game of lies,” they asked each other questions to detect their lies. They deepened their interactions. Next, they played the “campus adventure” game in teams, in which they found checkpoints on the Nakano campus and took a quiz at each point. The members of all teams were united and running around the Nakano campus to win the championship. At the last game “question time,” new students could ask seniors questions about what they wanted to know. After many questions about their classes and study-abroad life arose, the new students, who were nervous at first, opened up completely with other members. The classroom was filled with their laughter.

Through this exchange event, the new students were able to make connections with foreign students, while the senior students learned a lot by experiencing the planning and management of the event, which was a valuable opportunity for both students.
