Badminton Club members cheering their victory
The Badminton Club competed in the 2024 Kanto University Badminton Spring League Match held at Yonemoto Memorial Gymnasium, Kenshidai Campus of Nippon Sport Science University (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) from April 27 to 28 and from May 1 to 3, and the men’s team won all five matches and no losses over five days. The women’s team finished a close second with four wins and one loss. The men’s team of Badminton Club won the division-1 league championship for the second time in 73 years since 1951.
MIYASHITA Rei (3rd year, School of Political Science and Economics) also won the Most Valuable Player Award. NAKAGAWA Yuna (1st year, School of Commerce) and KOHARA Miku (1st year, School of Political Science and Economics) won the Rookie Award, adding to the badminton club’s remarkable achievement.
Captain HONDA Hikaru (4th year, School of Commerce) made the following comment on their long-cherished victory: “Of course, our goal was to win the championship before the match, and we have been practicing only to win the championship. All the freshmen also competed in the match and won all the games to win the championship. I’m really happy that we were able to win with everyone working together.”
