The Japan-Poland University Symposium took place on Wednesday, April 25, 2025, at the Polish Pavilion of the Kansai Expo in Osaka, as part of NAWA Day in EXPO, organized by the Polish government. Professor KATSU Etsuko (former Vice President, International Affairs) of the School of Political Science and Economics and Professor YAMADA Toru of the School of Arts and Letters participated in the event. Their invitation to the symposium reflected the strengthened academic ties between the School of Political Science and Economics and the University of Warsaw, fostered through undergraduate and graduate student exchange programs as well as collaborative research between faculty members.

Approximately ten universities from each of Japan and Poland joined the symposium, organized by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), to share good practices and explore future opportunities for interuniversity collaboration in education and research. A Chopin piano concert was held on the same day, followed by a reception at the Polish Embassy in Tokyo the next day, with Maria Mrówczyńska, Undersecretary of State at Poland’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in attendance. Meiji University’s School of Political Science and Economics and Graduate School of Political Science and Economics will continue to expand academic and student exchange with the University of Warsaw.
