Five-university credit-transfer program to support development of semiconductor talent

May 29, 2025

Five Universities — the Institute of Science Tokyo, Toyohashi University of Technology, Hiroshima University, Meiji University, and Nagaoka University of Technology — have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to join the credit-transfer program for semiconductor human resource development, which was launched at each university in April.

As part of the Integrated Green-niX Consortium for Research and Human Resource Development, the credit-transfer program aims to cultivate future LSI innovators who will lead the semiconductor industry. Initially signed on January 1, 2024, the participation MOU involved three universities: the Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Institute of Technology), Toyohashi University of Technology, and Hiroshima University. With the addition of two more universities, the memorandum now extends to five participating institutions. Under the MOU, eligible students can take designated Green-niX courses across university boundaries, including those newly introduced at the two additional universities this April. Students can attend classroom lectures online from remote universities and earn credits at their home institutions. The inclusion of Meiji University and Nagaoka University of Technology is anticipated to enhance complementarity among Green-niX course offerings and provide more effective learning opportunities to develop both broad fundamental knowledge and advanced expertise required of LSI innovators.
