[School of Information and Communication] Cooperation Agreement Signed Between Meiji University and Minamiuonuma City to Promote Regional Solutions

The School of Information and Communication signed an agreement on comprehensive cooperation with Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, on July 7. Minamiuonuma Mayor Shigeo Hayashi, who graduated from Meiji’s School of Political Science and Economics in 1992, attended the signing ceremony at the Surugadai Campus.

The purpose of this agreement is for the city and the university to work together to resolve local issues by utilizing the perspectives of young people. In the future, students from the School of Information and Communication are expected to participate in projects aimed at solving issues such as the utilization of vacant houses and the discovery of local resources in Minamiuonuma City, and to deepen their learning through collaboration with local residents and government officials. The School and the city will aim to establish a framework for ongoing cooperation by mutually utilizing each other’s human resources and facilities.

At the signing ceremony, ABE Rikiya Dean of the School of Information and Communication, and Mayor HAYASHI exchanged opinions and confirmed the direction of future initiatives. Afterward, the agreement was signed. Through this agreement, it is expected that the educational and research activities of the School of Information and Communication will become more closely linked to the local community, expanding opportunities for practical learning and contributing to the sustainable development of the local community.
