Courtesy visit by the Chief Representative of JICA Mexico Office and others – Signing of MOU on an internship program

Mr. KOBAYASHI Chiaki, the Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mexico Office, and Ms. TAKENOBU Hiromi , a member of JICA’s Personnel Department, visited Surugadai Campus on July 24. They held a meeting with Professor ETO Hideki of the School of Law, Deputy Director, Headquarters of International Collaboration and Director, International Student Center, Associate Professor MIMAKI Junko of the Organization for International Collaboration, and others, and held a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding on an internship program at JICA Mexico Office.
At the meeting, Director ETO expressed his gratitude for Chief Representative KOBAYASHI’s visit from Mexico, and explained Meiji University’s policy on the dispatch of students and the status of those who are interested in internship programs, whose number has been increasing in recent years. He also expressed his hope that the signing of the memorandum of understanding would lead to valuable experiences for students who intend to pursue global activities in the future.
In response, Chief Representative KOBAYASHI introduced the current situation in Mexico and JICA’s efforts, and then said that Mexico’s appeal is its diversity of people and cultures. He said, “I hope that this program provides participants with foundational experience in international cooperation and exchange.” It was a meaningful time where they actively exchanged their views on future cooperation in the program.
At the signing ceremony, both sides signed the memorandum of understanding on the internship program and shook hands. In a friendly atmosphere from beginning to end, both sides confirmed that they would further deepen their cooperative relationship for better program implementation.

Since its establishment in March 1973, the JICA Mexico Office has provided technical cooperation, financial cooperation (both reimbursable and non-reimbursable) and dispatch of overseas cooperation volunteers to address a wide range of development issues in Mexico.
