On July 28, the Organization for International Collaboration conducted preliminary training for the United Nations Youth Volunteer (UNYV) program. In addition, on August 5, YUKI Mio (3rd-year student in the School of Global Japanese Studies), who is to be dispatched to the UNYV program from Meiji University this year, participated in the UNYV pre-dispatch training conducted by Kwansei Gakuin University at its Tokyo Marunouchi Campus.

The UNYV program is an overseas volunteer program designed to provide participants with hands-on experience of international cooperation and international business activities, where the participants spend five to six months at United Nations offices around the world to acquire knowledge and skills required for global human resources.

YUKI actively learned about preparation before dispatch, the area and organization of destination, and other matters in the preliminary training on July 28.

The pre-dispatch training held from August 5 was participated in by students (five in total; three from Kwansei Gakuin University, one from Rikkyo University, and one from Meiji University) selected to be dispatched this year. At the opening ceremony, the students to be dispatched introduced themselves, and Professor MURATA Shunichi, Director of the Youth Volunteer Japan Training Center for the UNV Program and Director of the Integrated Center for UN and Foreign Affairs Studies, Kwansei Gakuin University, gave opening remarks. YUKI also talked with administrative staff members about her passion for the dispatch and Africa.

The Organization for International Collaboration will continue to work to expand global educational opportunities and create an environment where students can thrive on the world stage.
