
Seminar members with joint seminar certificates
A total of 10 third year students from the SAKUYAMA Takumi Seminar (Food Trade Laboratory), which aims to foster global human resources for the food industry, in the School of Agriculture took part in fieldwork practice for subjects related to their graduation thesis in Taiwan from August 4 to 8.
On August 5, the laboratory held a joint seminar at National Chung Hsing University in Taichung City. The joint seminar, which was conducted in English, was participated in by seven students from two groups from National Chung Hsing University, six students from one group from Kyoritsu Women’s University, and 15 students from three groups from the Catholic University of Korea, in addition to 10 students from two groups from Meiji University, where each group presented their research results and had a Q&A session.

On August 6, Meiji students visited Taiwan ZEN-NOH International Corporation in Taipei, where they were briefed on the Japanese food market in Taiwan by Mr. FUKUSHIMA Yoshinori, the president of the company. On August 7, they conducted a field survey in Taipei regarding the Japanese food and restaurant industry in Taiwan, which ranks third in terms of the export amount of Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products (2024 result, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries).
The seminar members who participated commented that they were inspired by the excellent English skills of Taiwanese and Korean students. The Food Trade Laboratory plans to continue fieldwork practice in Taiwan from next fiscal year onwards.
