2025 Academic Year Autumn Entrance Ceremony held

On September 19, Meiji University held its Autumn Entrance Ceremony for the 2025 academic year at Academy Hall on the Surugadai Campus, with a total of 70 new students (2 undergraduates and 68 graduate school students & Professional Graduate Schools). Enrolling in school in September consists mainly of students from overseas and working adults who are enrolled in the English Track of the School of Global Japanese Studies and Professional Graduate Schools.
 
President Masao Ueno welcomed the new students and addressed them powerfully in both Japanese and English: “Treasure each and every day of your university life. Do not fear challenges; encounter new knowledge, new people, and new worlds. And as members of Meiji University, forge your own futures while also developing the power to shape the future of Japan and the world.”

In the following congratulatory address, Chairman, Board of Trustees Yanagiya introduced the founding of the university by three young founders in 1881 and its founding principles of “Rights and Liberty” and “Independence and Self-Government.” He also encouraged the new students, saying, “It is my great hope that at our university, you will hone your international competence and that you will gain the high level of expertise necessary for collaborating with people from around the world, while also developing your own "individuality" as appropriate to each of you and carving out a path for yourself amidst a future that is unpredictable.”
