Oct. 21, 2025

Professor HAYASHI Yoichi in the Department of Computer Science at the School of Science and Technology was included on the list of World’s Top 2% of Scientists who have been highly cited in each field. The list has been published annually by a research team at Stanford University and Elsevier since 2019, and he has been selected for five consecutive years since 2021 in both the career-long and single-year sections in the field of artificial intelligence. Professor HAYASHI’s research on artificial intelligence over many years has been highly praised worldwide.

Stanford University’s list of World’s Top 2% of Scientists is a valuable measure of scientific excellence and impact. The list highlights the importance of influential research in academic development, not only celebrating individuals’ achievements, by aggregating data across scientific disciplines and providing an approach based on fair indicators. Separate career-long and single-year impact databases are presented for papers cited after 1996. The list focuses on impact (the number of citations) rather than the number of publications and also includes information on co-authorship and author positions (single, first, and last author). The rankings can be considered an indicator of excellence in the complex and evolving world of research.
