Library officials from Baltimore, the United States of America, visited the Ikuta Campus and inspected the Ikuta Library in the Center Forest on August 29. Baltimore, the largest city in the eastern U.S. State of Maryland, is a sister city of Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This visit was made possible by a request from Kawasaki City, where Ikuta Campus is located.
Four people, including Chad Helton, CEO of
the Enoch Pratt Free Library, a public library system in Baltimore City, visited the Ikuta Library. After visiting the Ikuta Library, which is located on the first to third floors of the Center Forest, CEO Helton and his team also visited the Learning Commons and classrooms on the fourth and fifth floors. After a tour of the facilities, a lively exchange of opinions on library management was held in the Group Work Room on the third floor, with staff from Ikuta Library.
Center Forest
The new Center Forest, which opened in April at Ikuta campus this year, is a communal educational facility, integrating the three key functions of Ikuta campus: classrooms, a library, and a learning commons (a space for comprehensive self-directed learning). As a hub for interaction between the School of Science and Technology and the School of Agriculture, the Center Forest fosters creative ideas and adopts a sustainable design in harmony with nature.
